For the race there are different categories in which the participants start. The respective conditions of participation (age, gender, etc.) are listed below in the overview.
Any age category with less than five registered teams for the men's categories and three registered teams for the women's categories will automatically be grouped with the next younger category. If there is no younger category, it will be grouped with the next older category.
Teams wishing to compete in the UCI category must hold a valid UCI licence and indicate this when registering online. Amateur riders who hold a valid UCI licence must compete in their respective UCI category and may not compete in the amateur category.
No category changes can be accepted after the registration deadline.
Prize money will only be awarded to teams competing in the UCI men's and women's categories.
As a general rule, participants must be 18 years and older on the start day.

Men
Men with the UCI category Men Elite (in order to be classified in the UCI category Men Elite, both riders need a valid UCI licence)
Women
Women with the UCI category Women Elite (in order to be classified in the UCI category Women Elite, both riders need a valid UCI licence)
Mixed
Mixed (teams consisting of one male and one female participant)
Masters
Masters (teams consisting of two male participants; he age of both participants must add up to 80 years and older)
Grand Masters
Grand Masters (teams consisting of two male participants; the age of both participants must add up to 100 years and older).

U-23 classification
The U23 classification includes all riders born in 2001 and younger. All participants of the corresponding age groups will be scored, regardless of whether they are part of a two-person team, individual starters or "individual finishers" after the team partner has dropped out
